No RTP Engine was found

Hello,

I recently tried to install Asterisk 1.8 using my functionning Asterisk 1.6 configuration but I now cannot instantiate any SIP connection which results in an error like so:

ERROR[4170]: rtp_engine.c:325 ast_rtp_instance_new: No RTP engine was found. Do you have one loaded?
ERROR[4170]: chan_sip.c:8078 process_sdp: Got SDP but have no RTP session allocated.

All the correct modules are installed at the right location and there are no specific errors from Asterisk at start.

What could this be due to ?

Thanks

–tehownt.

** EDIT:

The build made lacked the package “asterisk18-res-rtp-asterisk”.
It was added to the makefile and fixed the problem.

There are at least a couple of people having the same problem. Could you let us what exactly should we do to resolve this problem? Namely, where to find the package and where to add it to the Makefile? Sorry for my ignorance but I really need help. Thanks in advance.

Did some debugging, found the cause of the problem. Posted in separate thread
