Multiple Asterisk servers sharing a single queue

Hi,
A few weeks ago I asked the following question on another thread:
Hi,
I just wanted to know if it is possible to have a cluster of 2 Asterisk servers (through a proxy) that share the same queue. I am setting up a small scale call center that is able to distribute calls between a number of users from one single queue. Also how hard would it be to implement such a feature? Thanks
And I got the following reply:

My question is: Can I have 1 queue that is shared by both asterisk servers. If so can someone point me in the right direction? As noted above these servers will be deployed in a call center. The logic behind having 1 queue is, if in case one of the Asterisk server fails, the other one will be able to take all of the load. Thanks.

Asterisk is complex and probably no-one knows all its capabilities.

If you don’t get an answer to a question like this it generally means that people believe that the answer is no, but can’t be 100% sure that they haven’t overlooked something.

Thank you for your response, I believe that Asterisk is fully capable of being deployed in a call center.

I have even read it on the Asterisk website: “Asterisk turns an ordinary computer into a communications server. Asterisk powers IP PBX systems, VoIP gateways, conference servers and is used by small businesses, large businesses, call centers, carriers and governments worldwide.”

It would be unreasonable to implement just 1 Asterisk server in a large deployment.

I think you will find that a similar restriction applies on the big name circuit switched PABXes.
