Mini call-centre based on IP Telephony

Greetings :unamused:

I live in Ukraine and want to create a call centre with virtual number from USA and UK.Currently iā€™m looking for the software which will suit my requirements:

  • ability to quickly exchange incoming calls among call centre operators.
  • instant messaging.

Can i create it using asteriks?

Hi
what are you asking is easly develop using Asterisk with help of DID numbers of Uk or USA. but instant messaging is diffrent some what difficult concept as you need 3rd part software if you want to devlope with Asterisk.

What are those did numbers?

Direct In Dialling.

Sorry for my noobish question :open_mouth: but what is this direct in dialling? can you explain in a simple wordsā€¦iā€™m not voip geek :unamused:

btw - are there any programs for managing incoming calls via voip you can recommend?

p.s.what disatvantages of p2p protocol?(i was told skype uses it and itā€™s quite unstable)

DID is not a VoIP term and is not a geek term; it ought to be known to most people contactable over the telephone, in their office, in medium to large companies in countries that provide it.

DID means the ability to dial down to a particular extension on a PABX from any public network telephone. E.g., looking at Digiumā€™s contact information, they almost certainly have DID with all numbers of the form +1 256 428 6xxx being routed to their PABX.

Peer to peer connection is good for connected calls, where the network allows it. In the Skype sense, it is bad for call setup or when the IP network doesnā€™t allow direct connections, because it relies on infrastructure borrowed from other users and not under the direct management of the network owners.

thanks for the reply )) iā€™m not too good in IPtelephony.I only used to administrate Nortel BCM400.

Can you advice me any IPtelephony providers in UK or USA?
I need a virtual numbers. One from UK and one from USA,preferrably toll-free.Iā€™m not very familiar with abroad IP operators, and my chief considered Ukrainian IP operators not good enough.

Also, maybe u can advice me a less difficult way in creating ā€œmini call-centreā€ with these functions:

  • call transfer among operators
  • call waiting
  • messaging

May IPoperator supply us with above mentioned functions, Or maybe some software(some softphone with additional functions,iā€™m dont really want to pay 800$ for call-centre)
