What is a good linux distro to install asterisk on? I have tried ubuntu, but not root supports gives me errors when creating directories.
Well you should be able to install Asterisk on Ubunto without any problems. If you give out the exact error messages we might be able to help you.
Anyway I prefer working with Asterisk on Debian or Fedora, though most of the distros should be able to work properly with it.
