Large number of active sip dialogs MESSAGE in the output "sip show channels"

Hi,

My Asterisk version is 1.6.2.6 and i can`t upgrade it for this moment.

The problem is, there is a lots of “Init: MESSAGE” in the output of “sip show channels”, sometimes 1660 or more, and this state will remain until restart the server.

nobody access from internet to my PBX. all users in LAN.

The question is, what is “MESSAGE” means? and how can i terminate them?

hmm…whats your RTP timeout in sip.conf?

The rtptimeout = 1800

Hmmm. I’ve seen high RTP timeouts cause the problem (at least as described) you are having, except the values were really big (+30000) when someone got Seconds mixed up with milliseconds (oops). My systems are all set to 30 seconds, but I’m not sure if changing that would impact you or not. Pretty sure 30 is the default value, but perhaps you have a requirement for it to be higher.
