Isdn pri and bri

Hi everyone great to be a part of this. I am quite new to asterisk i have been playing on it for a while and works really great
But now i have come accros a few new things i would like to know how would i go by usijng a isdn pri card does the isdn line still get routed to my ip phones on the network? or do i need different cards for that

If I’ve understood your question the answer is yes, to use a PRI line you need a PRI card (see digium.com/en/products/digital/ for Digium’s products) inside an Asterisk box and yes you’re be able to route calls coming from the PRI line to the ip phones connected to the Asterisk box.

Cool thanks man thats exactly what i wnted to know
is there any calculator to test if my lan could handle ip phones if i want to implement the phones on the network mostly we are running gigbit but still would like to know or should i make a seperate network

how do you setup the pri isdn card and to route the calls to the ip phones

extensions and could someone explain how many pri lines i would need to get

and then the final thing is how do i setup for the direct numbers or how they work

With a gigabit network I think there is no problem about bandwidth, even with an uncompressed codec (8 kbyte +8 kbyte for one call ) you can have hundreds of concurrent calls.
To understand more about Asterisk I think you should first read this nice book: downloads.oreilly.com/books/9780596510480.pdf .
