Firs of all I apologize if this is a “basic questionâ€
in each (zaptel/asterisk) source folder, after you do make install, do make config. this sets up init scripts which should load them on boot time. on a redhat clone OS (centos/fedora/etc) you can then do service zaptel start / service asterisk start and it will load them up. Then do asterisk -r to connect to the CLI.
as for the errors figure out what they are and try to fix them… not sure if the latest defaults have any errors but it could be depending on your setup. what errors do you get?
