How to setup Asterisk as a SIP server?

I have been looking all over for documentation on this, but can’t find any.

What I need to do is to set up my Asterisk box strictly as a SIP registration server. There will be no calls whatsoever coming in or out of Asterisk. I have 2 SIP phones which will call each other and Asterisk should provide the registration service for those phones, and nothing else.

I very much appreciate any help on this.

raman go www.asteriskathome.sourceforge.net and download asterisk@home latest version just burn it in a cd and install in one mechine, download any sip phone and configure … you can use this service within 30 minutes.

It sounds like you want an actual SIP proxy, not a full-blown B2BUA and PBX like Asterisk.

You may want to look into SIP Express Router or sipX.
