How to set Asterisk to generate ringing tones?

Hi,

I would like to have Asterisk to generate the ringing tone in a phone during the progress of a call until the actual remote phone has been picked up. What do I need to do enable this?

Have you looked at r flag in Dial()?

or core show application dial if 1.4.
