HI,

Can anyone tell me how to play an mp3 files in asterisk

there are couple of solutions to play mp3 files. Look for MP3Player dialplan application, which require external program mpg123 to play mp3 files.

Other way is to install asterisk-addons package to play mp3 files natively in asterisk.

hi godson thanks for ur reply

I have mpg123 file but even it is not playing
but wave is playing wen am setting it to 16KHZ and 8 bit mono then it is playing
I dont know why mp3 is not playing

To my humble opinion, cmd Playback(somefile) should play ‘somefile.mp3’ since you have format_mp3.so loaded…
