Help with Asterisk understanding

Hello Asterisk users, developers and anyone!

I am currently doing a report on Asterisk for university as an Open Source project, can anyone please help me understand how Asterisk relates to Linux with system administration?!

Asterisk is a service (daemon) that runs under Linux. I think that answers your question.
