Help Please : How to get start quickly for Asterisk?

Hi,

Need help and advise how I can get start to learn Asterisk ?

Objective is to able to deploy Asterisk.

Have little knowledge on linux and no knowledge/experience on Asterisk at all.

Any books, docs, and any suggestion to learn the hands on, test lab setup would appreciate.

Thanks.

Asterisk - The Future of Telephony is a great starter book.

If you want my honest opinion, find a linux distro (gentoo, centos, slackware and fedora are all popular with asterisk), install it, install asterisk, and get a dialplan working.

it will be very difficult at times, but there is so much information out there to help you LEARN what you need to know that by the end of it, you will have a fairly good understanding of the basics.

voip-info is a haven of info, and there are numerous short guides on the internet on how to get asterisk up and running. just take it slow, use google to search for any questions you have, and you will be successful.

good luck.

Hi,
I think you go through the voip-info website.
voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk
There is as much as you need for a starting. And also there is a book O’Reilly Asterisk: The Future of Telephony , which can be downloaded free(pdf) .
This is a link for that.
voipspeak.net/images/stories/ori … skTFOT.zip
or
nufone.net/downloads/asteris … skTFOT.zip

Ok Go ahead

Also a good way to start is too play with asterisk at home. Its a great beginers tool asteriskathome.sourceforge.net/
