Hardware Recommendation Mysql database server for asterisk

I wanted to set-up a Mysql Database server. I wanted to have a asterisk server and and DB server? Can somebody what would be the best hardware(server/box) for an mysql database? I wuld lke also to ask if is okey if I combine my asterisk and db server if I have 500-1000 subs/users on my asterisk?

Hey Newbie_aste.

When i build systems for Asterisk i normaly choose SATA Raptor drives, if you want to go higher end then go for SCSI drives, you will not only are they reliable but good with working with MySQL.

But on the other hand, you should try and install as much RAM as possible, try to aim for 2GB and above, this will help with keeping the system stable and reliable, but make sure when you choose the Hard Drive just make sure it is a 10,000 RPM and above.

As for joining the two systems together, i find it is better to do it that way, but in any event if you can also store another MySQL database on another system as a back up, you should, it is a great form of protection, as Data is one of the most sensative things, however Asterisk can allways be reloaded and rebuilt but Customer information is a hard thing to restore if you dont have proper backups.
