We are experiencing a delay issue when using the conference functionality in Asterisk. We currently are attempting to setup a dedicated Asterisk server for conferencing and have 25 channels via a SIP trunk from Global Crossing. We are getting anywhere from 10 - 40 ms response times. Our provider is AT&T and peers directly with Global Crossing. We have tried both with g711 and g729. Both create a delay that can cause users to talk over others. All users are calling in from the PSTN via the SIP trunk. Is this a common problem or are we missing something?
Asterisk 1.2.13 svn rev 47264
CentOS Linux 2.6.9-34.0.2.ELsmp
Dell PowerEdge 2450 Dual 866 MHz w/ 2 GB of RAM

Ok, just for the hell of it, I spun up a 1.4 AsteriskNow box and the delay is gone. I am getting an echo but I think I can resolve that.
