After configuring dahdi, /etc/dahdi contains:
assigned-spans.conf.sample
genconf_parameters
init.conf
modules.sample
span-types.conf.sample
system.conf.sample
This is similar to a problem described in
https://community.asterisk.org/t/dahdi-installing-problem/65983/33
A suggested solution there is to “… run dahdi_genconf and dahdi_config …”
However, I was unable to find the files in dahdi-linux or dahdi-tools
Because of kernel compatibility issues, I got the contents of both folders using
git clone -b next git://git.asterisk.org/dahdi/linux dahdi-linux
git clone -b next git://git.asterisk.org/dahdi/tools dahdi-tools
(see https://community.asterisk.org/t/dahdi-fails-fatal-error-linux-pci-aspm-h-no-such-file-or-directory/83561)
I have been through the README and Makefiles for both dahdi-linux or dahdi-tools to see where system.conf and assigned-spans.conf might be generated without success.
