I know that the cisco 7914 is 100% incompatible with sip so will not work without sccp (not wanting to do)
but cisco say the 7915 IS “compatible” with sip, does this mean it will work with asterisk?
I dont know why it wouldnt?

Actually, the 7914 is 100% compatible with SIP using the latest firmware S00105000400. I use 7914’s alongside 7961, 7970 & 7971 phones running SIP over TCP. I can set them to either extensions or speed dials. I also have the Cisco BLF patch from Gareth, matched to my 1.8.12, so I have BLF indications as well. I can provide further details if needed.
I recently acquired a 7915, and have a 7916 in-route (I wanted the color/backlight to match the 7970/7971s), so I’d also be interested in any configuration info on those to get it working with SIP.
So far I have seen the 7915 (attached to a 7971) once request the B015-1-0-4-2.SBN from the TFTP logs, but then oddly enough was only requesting /flash0/sidecar/S00105000400. I created the needed dirs and copied the file there, and the TFTP logs shows the files being requested and sent, but all the 7915 does is turn off the 1/2 page button lights and keep showing the CISCO logo screen. No flashing line buttons like I get on the 7914 when it’s loading its FW. The 7971 understands there is an Expansion Module, but it shows as Offline on the status page.
I updated the XMLDefault.cnf.xml to indicate the proper FW for the 7915, and now it doesn’t request anything from the TFTP server before going on to request the final dialplan.xml. The 7971 works fine at this point.
The same cabling and power supply runs a 7914 I was previously using just fine. I put the 7914 back with the correct load file name in the 7971’s SEPmac.cnf.xml file it’s 100% operational.
Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong and/or how to further troubleshoot this?

Did you ever get the 7916 working?
I have a 7914 I am fighting with currently and I am looking to buy several 7916 sidecars.
Could you share any information you have on getting the 7914 working, or more importantly, whether the 7916 works properly?
Looking to use the 7916 with 7970G.
