Channel Unavailable Troubleshooting process

I am new to asterisk. I am working for a call center company. I sometimes encounter this channel unavailable error. I do not know how to solve this problem because I don’t have knowledge and experience in handling this problem since I only knew of asterisk when I landed on this job. I would like to know how to troubleshoot the problem. Hope you can enlighten me.



Channel unavailable is a secondary error. Look for the primary error.

Details will depend on the sort of channel.

Probably the most common cause, when one knows nothing else about the configuration, is a SIP endpoint that hasn’t registered, or whose registration has failed to renew.

Simpler causes include accessing an end point that is not defined, e.g. if you use the common trick of naming end points after the extension that they primarily serve, and someone dials a wrong number.
