Can I use G.729 for free if I use as pass-through on Asteri

I am a mobile developer and built a mVoip application using Linphone and G.729 codec. I used various audio codecs, but it wasn’t good enough for Android mobile. G.729 codec was perfect for all Android devices.

I found that if I don’t use it for voice-mail and transcoding, I could use it for free. Can I use G.729 for free if I use as pass-through on Asterisk? Can I also use it on Android device for free?

You will have to pay for its use in the phones, but that is probably contained in the overall price, so it might appear free to you. If you don’t install a G.729 codec in Asterisk, you don’t need to pay licence fees, but you will not be able have Asterisk generate any call progress tones.
