We have been using Asterisk for about 6 months and my major gripe is the call waiting tone. It is intrusive, obnoxious, and pretty much interrupts the call in progress. Is there any way to turn this off or limit it to a single beep?

have you tried modifying /etc/asterisk/indications.conf ?
