Bash: asterisk: command not found

I have just installed Asterisk 1.4 on Fedora Core 7.

When I try to run asterisk I get “bash: asterisk: command not found” however if I run ‘man asterisk’ I get the print out.

I have googled around, and attempted re-installing however I keep coming back to the same problem.

Thanks,

When you try to start asterisk, are you logged in as root?

I was not logged in under root, but I was su over to root. I updated the SSH policies so I could log in under root and it worked.
Thanks!

DId you just “su” to root, or did you “su -” to root? If you just “su” then you’ll have path issues.
