Asterix with an analog 56k modem

Hi

Is it possible to make call through asterix and a 56k modem?
If I’m using a soft-SIP client on my laptop over a broandband connection to the linux box running asterix, will It be possible to make calls through a ordinary generic 56k modem?
I haven’t read through all the wikipages, though…:wink:

Even if you can make a call - quality will be very bad.
You must use codec with high compression.

ok, well… Looks like I have to play around a bit…
which device do you guys suggest for connecting the computer to the analog carrier then?
