Yes… Don’t.
If you really must, you need to configure the VM to have a scheduling latency under 20ms and with enough dedicated RAM that it does not page fault on the host.
Or a better answer is - for smaller systems (let’s say up to about 30 extensions) or mid range systems with low traffic (e.g. hotels with 100 extensions) you should be fine running Asterisk as VM on a not busy VM host. Anything bigger that this deserves a dedicated server
Hi as said depends on Size and concurrent calls.
We have many customers happily using Asterisk on VMware fro systems upto 30 extension or so with no issues.
