Asterisk Not Reading extensions.conf; Only extensions.ael

Hello,

I have configured the extensions.conf file however when I go into the Asterisk CLI and type the command “dialplan show” I only see the dialplan from the ael file. Nothing shows up from the .conf file.

Is there a way to disable asterisk from reading the ael file and reading only the conf file.

I thought Asterisk read both?

Please help.

I had this same problem and never could figure out how to fix it, so… I figured out how to do everything in the .ael file. Personally, I think its better than the old format, but it would be much better if ALL the config files were converted and if there were some better examples out there.

It took a couple of hours, but the problem was a stray letter at the very beginning of extensions.conf

I use pico to edit the file and the search feature is CTL W. I must have not been pressing the CTL and the letter W was added to the text of the file.
