Think you can better install a “virtualbox” on your mac and then just do a linux install.

I use Asterisk in a docker container on my mac. Referred this: https://github.com/dougbtv/docker-asterisk. It has dockerfiles for asterisk 11, 13 and 14 but, with some changes you can write it for newer versions too.
