Asterisk ended with exit status 1 Asterisk died with code 1

following this guide http://blog.keer.info/debian-asterisk-freepbx-complete-installation-guide/I have installed freebpx 2.9.0 on debian 7.1.0 64 bits, and all the process was ok till the asterisk restarting point to proceed with amportal installation, after i run /usr/src/freepbx-2.9.0/start_asterisk start it returns:

STARTING ASTERISK Asterisk ended with exit status 1 Asterisk died with code 1. cat: /var/run/asterisk/asterisk.pid: No such of file or directory Automatically restarting Asterisk. Asterisk ended with exit status 1 Asterisk died with code 1.

neither system reboot can solve this, nor any other method i 've tried.

Hi, 2.9.0 its an old version of FreePBX with some bugs and well known exploits. Try to use the latest 2.11

About the asterisk issue, run asterisk -vvvvvvcg and paste all the output.

Maybe you can also check /var/log/asterisk/full for errors. I’m sure that you will find something what can cause these restarts.

I don’t know why but /var/log/asterisk/full does not work with this distro, look

root@FreePBX-Voip:~# tail -f /var/log/asterisk/full tail: no se puede abrir «/var/log/asterisk/full» para lectura: No existe el fichero o el directorio

You can enable logging by adding this to your /etc/asterisk/logger.conf file:

And then please run “logger reload” through the Asterisk CLI to changes take effect.
After this, look at the contents again in /var/log/asterisk/full

THANKS laszlob, I will do that, I’ m reinstalling Freebpx but 2.11 version instead, nevertheless I solved the unsteady restarting issue by adding the user and the group for asterisk groupadd asterisk useradd -c "asterisk PBX" -d /var/lib/asterisk -g asterisk asterisk

Why the freepbx.conf file and freepbx_setting aren’ t created yet, no wonder the so called migration.php script doesn’t work

Is this a new installation or an upgrade?
