Asterisk + Digium + H323 IP Phone

I am new to Asterisk.

I have 4 phone lines coming into my office.

I have multiple H323 IP Phones that I would like to connect to PBX made of Digium card and Asterisk.

I believe, at least I need to have 4FXO ports on a card but the rest I am not sure.

Please help if you could.

Howdy,

For four analog ports, the correct card would be either the TDM410, for PCI, or the AEX410, for PCI-Express.

You’d want to get the card, dependent upon your bus type, bundled with four FXO modules. That’d be either of the following two part numbers:

1TDM404EF - for PCI, bundled with the hardware-based echo cancellation module (highly recommended)
or
1AEX404EF - for PCI-Express, also bundled with the same hardware-based echo cancellation module.

You can also try the card configurator here:

Cheers.

Two questions:

  1. I just wanted to clarify:
    Should I be getting
"TDM410, for PCI, or the AEX410, for PCI-Express"
    or
    1TDM404EF - for PCI
    1AEX404EF - for PCI-Express

I see the configurator mentions the later. But just wanted to clarify.

  1. Should I assume that h323 ip phone part can be handled through asterisk with h323 channel?

Howdy,

For 1:

The product base models are a TDM410 or AEX410 - these are four port modular interface cards. They themselves are not bundled with the FXO capability - we modularize that.

The 1-level part numbers I provided are the SKUs associated with the specific bundlings you’d need for the telephone capability (four analog lines) that you’re after.

For 2:

I’d go ahead and test that functionality prior to purchasing the card. You don’t need PSTN lines to get a call from an H.323 phone to Asterisk or vice-versa.

Cheers.

Thank you much, I now understand the card numbering and play with h323 first.
