Asterisk and X-window

Hi,
Hope everyone will be alright.I want to ask is asterisk work fine with x-windows (GNOME or KDE) or it is better to run it without X-windows. I mean if I’m installing new Linux OS for configuring astersk on it whether I install X-window or not
