Asterisk and Cisco

Hi,

I am new to all this VOIP set-up and config but hopefully someone on here might be able to help!?

I have purchased a Cisco 7940 phone and will convert it to use SIP instead of the skinny client that Cisco provides and will run it from my existing broadband connection at home. However, I need a separate phone number so clients can get through to my business and not my home phone. Is this possible with Asterisk or will I need a 2nd line into my house to separate the two?

Cheers for any help provided,
Nick

It depends. Are you connecting asterisk to an analog phone line or are you using a SIP or IAX trunk from a provider? Its possible to get DNID or DID service over either but is usually difficult and/or very expensive if using analog lines.
