ZT_CHANCONFIG failed on channel 1

I was successfully running asterisk 1.4 and zaptel 1.4 on SuSE 10.2

I’m using a TDM21B and things worked perfectly. I started adding SIP softphones. I needed to turn off the SuSE firewall (didn’t know it existed) to get things to work.

Now, when doing ztcfg -vv, I get:

ZT_CHANCONFIG failed on channel 1: No such device or address (6)

What happened? This is a stock SuSE 10.2. Asterisk & zaptel build from tarballs from digium.

I no longer have analog ports.

Entire command:

fribble:~ # ztcfg -vv

Zaptel Version: 1.4.0
Echo Canceller: MG2
Configuration

Channel map:

Channel 01: FXO Kewlstart (Default) (Slaves: 01)
Channel 02: FXO Kewlstart (Default) (Slaves: 02)
Channel 03: FXS Kewlstart (Default) (Slaves: 03)

3 channels configured.

ZT_CHANCONFIG failed on channel 1: No such device or address (6)
fribble:~ #

I booted a different version of Linux (FC5) via grub. It too had the exact same issue. No changes were made to that system.

I swapped out this TDM21B out with another one. Everything works. So somehow, the card went bad on me.

So this error message is misleading (in my case; google shows others seeing it over the years where there were zaptel.ko module version mismatches etc.)

When you get the error, paste the output of “lspci -v” here.

I cannot reproduce. After removing and re-inserting the card, at least once each night since your request, the card simply works without problem.
