Why would anyone use the hardware G729 encoder/decoder for $1400 which only does 96 simultaneous when you could purchase the software version for $960.
I am mostly referring to an enterprise environment where you are running server class multi-processor machines. I would imagine that a two core 3Ghz+ machine could easily transcode 100 simultaneous g.279 calls without a problem… no?
