contains the following note in the “externpass” section: “if you use this setting, internal change_password function will not be used to regenerate voicemail.conf”
Basically, if you specify an “externpass” script and a user changes his or her voicemail password, it will be updated in memory, but not in voicemail.conf. When Asterisk reloads, the changes will be gone. This means that any “externpass” script would have to take care of updating voicemail.conf as well.
Why is it implemented this way? Is this a bug or a feature?
In my opinion, “externpass” should work only in addition to the regular password change feature, it shouldn’t modify or replace it.
Any thoughts?
