yes you can do this.

if you want to make * talk to your existing phone LINES, you need FXO ports. X100 clone cards are cheapest, otherwise try sangoma a200 or digium tdm400 series cards.

If you watn to use your existing phones with *, you need FXS ports. Sangoma S200 or digium TDM400 will do this too. Or try ATAs- SIP devices that convert phone(s) to VoIP.

If you just want to make calls using *, you could try a VoIP provider. This would let you connect your * box via SIP or IAX2 to the provider and send the call straight over the Internet.
Many home VoIP providers dont support this, they lock the service to an ATA which is useless. You need a BYOD provider.
