There is only one username in sip.conf that I can think off, well username and authuser…
Perhaps you mean the type=user -> type=friend or type=peer setting.
If that’s the case then it changes the rights users have. User means you can call but can’t get called, peer is that you can get called but can’t call and friend is that you can do everything.
I hope that answers your question, if not can you post exactly what settings you are asking about, because I don’t know them.
