Unable to find codec translation path g729 to ulaw

Hello,

I recently created a virtual machine and installed/upgraded FreePBX/Asterisk to 10.13.66-22. I have restored it from our existing physical server which is running 6.12.65-23. However, when I try to test calls through the new system it gives me error “unable to find codec translation path g729 to ulaw” and vice versa. I downloaded the g729 codec file (codec_g729.so) and placed it under /usr/lib64/asterisk/modules, but i still dont see g729 in the translation table. How can I get the codec translation working?

Have you licensed the codec using the registrar utility?

how do i do that? I don’t see any licenses in our existing physical system.

I presume you bought the licences with the hardware, of the “physical system”. That’s what you do when you buy any G.729 compatible phone.

(The situation has been complicated by the expiry of the patent. I’ve ignored that.)

You will need to sign into your digium account at https://my.digium.com/ and generate new licensing.

You can see your existing licenses at:

https://my.digium.com/en/users/registered-products/

There’s a good document in the Knowledgebase about the G 7.29 codec, how to install and register the codec.
