Total number of calls asterisk can Handle

Hi

I am having an asterisk box with 1.4.2 and hardware configuration with p4 1GHz processor and 4 gb ram. Can any one tell me, what parameter decides the number of calls that can be handled by the asterisk box. Is there a limit for the number of calls.

There are no hard limits. You are likely to run out of processor speed first, but that will depend on details that you haven’t provided.

Thanks David. So this configuration can anyway handle more than 200+ sip calls at a time. Correct me If I am wrong

I’ve never tried that many, and it would probably depend on whether or not they were externally bridged.

If you look through the past threads, you will find various sizing estimates, but the actual capacity depends a great deal on what you are doing with Asterisk.
