[Solved]--[PLEASE HELP! - Toll Free numbers not working!]

Hello.
I am having problems making toll free calls on my pbx on my t1. I don’t know if the t1 configuration has anything to do with it. When I hook my pbx up to an analog line I can dial toll free numbers ( any number in fact) and it has no problem going through. But as soon as I hook the t1 line up to it and dial a toll free number I get a busy signal. I can dial
extensions and local numbers no sweat with on the t1. My 800 number extension that is located in outbound_local in extensions.conf is configured the exact same way as all the other ones but it still won’t work. I even put a SayDigits($EXTEN) before it actually dials out and the extension is
fine. Is there something special I need to configure in either zaptel or
zapata. Why would it work on an anolog line and not the t1. Any
suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated. BTW. I am using
a tdm400p and a te110p on Fedora 3. Here is a sample of my extensions.conf. This is the only thing holding me up before I can implement my system. Thanks.

Have you tried dialing the numbers to make sure they work? Sometimes I’ll dial the wrong number and that was the problem.

Glad I could solve your problem.

turn debugging on and post the output from the CLI when you attempt a call please.

First off. Yes I dialed the numbers from other phone to make sure that they were real numbers. I then did a series of debugging and this is what I got.
This is verbosity at 10 with pri debugging span 1 enabled. I can do other debugging if needed. Appreciate any help given. Thanks.

Is this you trying to call 911 but dialing the number yet for some reason you tried to “destroy” the call so the police couldn’t catch you?

I’m still new to this asterisk thing so if I’m wrong, don’t arrest me please.

I’m just trying to help out.

Could you also post the toll free number you are trying to call? I’d like to try it on my system I am trying to build.

Cause 16 is far end disconnect, tried calling another 800 number?

It looks like you’re sending ‘7007’ as your CallerID as well, you might want to set that to a valid number.

q931 is a protocol on the PRI, id check your configuration of the pri first. make sure its setup correctly. can you access the internet over the circuit?

Is the pri configuration in zaptel and zapata? Becuase they look alright to me. I included them with my first post so if anyone wants to take a look and give me suggestions I would be grateful. As for access to the internet. Yes I can access the internet through my server. I can call a remote SIP phone that is connected via my external ip address and it works fine. I can dial local numbers and they work. Its just when I dial toll free numbers that I get this error. The question is why would it work with local numbers and not 800 numbers when both are going through my t1? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I went into the zapata.conf and everything is fine in there as far as my t1 is concerned. I tried another option where I put pridialplan=(unknown, private, local, national, international) and that still didn’t work. According to voip-info.com it is rare to have to actually use this and by default it is set to national. But I thought that I would try it. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know. Thanks.

This might sound crazy but try stripping the 1 off of the 800 when dialing…

I ran in to this last night with a SIP CISCO router FXO interface. The problem I encountered was that the CISCO was stripping the match pattern and dialing the remainder of the digits. I have no experience with the ZAP hardware but wanted to mention this incase it was something similar.

I tried leaving the 1 off in my dial plan and I got the same error. Also when I ran the debug it shows that the number is being dialed correctly. So any other ideas?

I believe I would call my provider and talk with them and see if they see anything strange.

I was going to say the same thing, its obviously an error with the protocol and communication. Raise hell because theyre going to tell you it’s beyond their responsibility, the SJ.

Well everyone. Some good came my way this week. The Phone company did some upgrading to our t1 line. After they did that, my phone system worked. I can dial 800 numbers. Thanks to everyone who posted on here. I greatly appreciate it.

good to hear!

Did the Phone Company say what was wrong ?

This sounds very interesting and if you could share what was wrong on the TELCO side it I would love to know !

The only thing I know is that they were changing the translations for the T1. I didn’t ask them to do it, I got an email one day that said they were going to do it. The day after I tested my box and it worked. I know, its crazy. I have no idea what they did. All I know is that if they hadn’t done it I would be stuck still.
