Silence when Placing outgoing calls via ZAP

Good day,

I have an asterisk box with a Sangoma A200 with one FXO module. I have asterisk already working and the Sangoma card installed and configured. My problem is when placing an outgoing call via ZAP, in the asterisk CLI it shows that ZAP answers the call but on my softphone I only hear silence.

My system overview:
UK based
Fedora Core 5 Distro
Sangoma A200 card with 1 FXO module
1 PSTN line (BT)
Xlite and Idefisk softphone
Asterisk-1.2.18
Zaptel-1.2.17.1
Libpri-1.2.4

here are my configs:

zaptel.conf

loadzone=uk
defaultzone=uk

#Sangoma A200 [slot:2 bus:2 span:1]
fxsks=1
fxsks=2

zapata.conf

[trunkgroups]

[channels]
context=default
usecallerid=yes
hidecallerid=no
callwaiting=yes
usecallingpress=yes
callwaitingcallerid=yes
threewaycalling=yes
transfer=yes
canpark=yes
cancallforward=yes
callreturn=yes
echocancel=yes
echocancelwhenbridged=yes
rxgain=0.0
txgain=0.0
group=1
callgroup=1
pickupgroup=1
sendcalleridafter=2

immediate=no

#Sangoma A200 [slot:2 bus:2 span:1]
context=from-zaptel
group=0
signalling=fxs_ks
channel =>1

context=from-zaptel
group=o
signalling=fxs_ks
channel =>2

extensions.conf

exten => _9X.,1,Dial(ZAP/1/${EXTEN:1})

CLI output when placing outgoing calls on idefisk:

-- Executing Dial("IAX2/2001-2", "ZAP/1/tel.number") in new stack
-- Called 1/tel.number
-- Zap/1-1 answered IAX2/2001-2

this is the same scenario when using xlite
i only hear silence on my softphone (no ring or anything)
any advice or pointers would be very much appreciated.

thanks

as root do: wanrouter start and and try making your calls again. also in your zapata.conf, change group=1 to group=0 and do: wanrouter restart.

Lets get your feedback.

Cheers.

hi,

same thing. still silence when i place an outgoing call. any other suggestions? do you think it has something to do with the phone line since it is a BT line of UK?

many thanks for the reply

hi,

do you think that there is something wrong with the configs or missing out on something? advices and suggestions would be highly appreciated. many thanks…

any takers?.. thanks

Do incoming calls work ok?

hi seabro

thank you for taking time to answer, really appreciate it.

by the way with regards to incoming calls, unfortunately they don’t work also. on the cli i see:

CLI for incoming calls:

-- Got event 17 (Polarity Reversal)...
-- CID timed out while waiting for ring. Exiting simple switch
-- fsk_serie made mylen < 0 (-82)
-- CallerID feed failed: Success
-- CallerID returned with error on channel 1 'ZAP/1-1'

any advice or suggestions? again many thanks.

hi to all,

any one encountered the error above? any advice or suggestion would be highly appreciated. again many thanks.

regards

hi

just an update on my work i am still unable to place outgoing calls. I still hear nothing, only silence. i have changed my zapata.conf various times and currently i have it set as shown below:

my zapata.conf:

[channels]
context=default
cidsignalling=v23
cidstart=polarity
usecallerid=yes
echocancel=yes
echocancelwhenbridged=yes
rxgain=0.0
txgain=0.0

immediate=no

;Sangoma A200 [slot:2 bus:2 span:1]
;group=0
signalling = fxs_ks
channel => 1

i have remove the config for the other port since i only have one POTS (BT) line connected to port 1 of the A200. Unfortunately, incoming calls does not work also.

any one willing to suggest or advice on how this could be resolved?

by the way, aside from having caller id activated on the POTS line, are there any more parameters that i need to know and get from BT to get my system going?

i would really appreciate any feedback.

thanks.
