Good day!
I am reviewing various options for self-hosted Unified communications with features such as:
- User-friendly instant messaging (text chat) like Skype’s IM.
…with emoticons, group chat, etc.
-
screen sharing at least. Screen control would be a plus but not required.
-
Freepbx and/or Sip integration would be nice, but not required. Most important is quality IM.
-
open source preferred since that may allow for more customization down the road - but am open to hear about commercial if reasonably priced for small business
-
It would also be neat if it has a desktop client (software based rather than just browser)… but that is being “hard to please” if we require that
…so that is not a must.
I’ve tried BigBlueButton and jitsi-meet so far.
Both are great for video conferencing/collaboration, but the IM is not as nice as something like skype. For instance, BigBlueButton does not have emoticons in the chat; However, it does allow sip integration via FreeSwitch.
I realize there is 3CX; However, I’m used to the FreePBX platform, so I’d prefer to stick with that.
Thanks for your time & sharing,
Shawn
