Does the design choice of modular signaling and media parts allow for the ability to drop in a different media engine? sipwise/rtpengine would be a candidate that I can think of.
I would have to say no, not at this time. Is it possible? Probably but it would be like everything else where it would have to be worked into APIs and other parts.
I don’t think it is something that is going to happen in the neat future.
It is possible, though realistically it’s only been done once and that was internal to the company for a product using a DSP that handled the media.

That’s ultimately why RTP engine as an API came into existence, we needed it to be pluggable and didn’t want to maintain a fork.
