Registration problem with Cisco 7965

I using Asterisk 13.9.1. I was able to register using Cisco 7960 with SIP firmware 8.7
But I was not able to register using Cisco 7965 with SIP45.8-5-4S. Im only getting one line on the debug mode which is
[2016-12-30 09:16:03] WARNING[11920] pjproject: sip_transactio Unable to register REGISTER transaction (key exists)
[2016-12-30 09:16:03] WARNING[19287] pjproject: sip_transactio Unable to register REGISTER transaction (key exists)

After I got this message, I tried again using 7960 on the same extension without a problem. Then back to Cisco 7965 and got the same warning message. I’m monitoring the TFTP session and so far it’s getting the correct SEP{mac}.cnf.xml, dialplan.xml, etc

My PBX is hosted at Cyberlynk and I have NAT set to on / true

I’ve search all over the internet for different SEP{mac}.cnf.xml setting and noting seems to work Trying one change at a time. I also tried a wrong authPassword but I didn’t get any error wrong password on the asterisk log. Instead I got the same warning [2016-12-30 10:02:42] WARNING[25209] pjproject: sip_transactio Unable to register REGISTER transaction (key exists). My debug was set to asterisk -rvvvvvvvv

On the phone "Status message, I’m getting 3 msg only

  1. File Not Found: CTLFile.tlv ! Which is suppose to be normal
  2. SEP{mac}.cnf.xml ! it loaded the correct file
  3. Error Update Locale ! which is suppose to be normal for United State

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Try setting the “force_rport” option to “no” in the pjsip.conf endpoint configuration. If this does not work please provide the endpoint configuration and a SIP trace (pjsip set logger on).

My original SEPmac.cnf was for Chan_sip ext 5001 (port 5060). I added ext 5009 as pjsip (port 5160)
I set “force_rport” to no for ext 5009 but still wont register. Thanks for your help

If it is behind NAT, as it seems to be, then I don’t have any suggestions for you. The Cisco phones are extremely tempermental behind NAT and I don’t know the configuration (if there is any) to make them work adequately.

I run a capture on 7960 (working) and the conversation goes like this

IP Phone Request Register reply with status 401
IP Phone Request Register reply with status 200
Server Request Option reply with status 200
Server Request Notify reply with status 200

But on the 7965, I see the IP Phone Request Register (1’st) and it was process by the server with a reply
"Status 401 but the IP phone don’t see the reply. It seem your correct and it has something to do with NAT.

Is there a setting that will allow me to use TCP, then switch to UDP once the registration is done? If there is, what would be the negative since UDP is the NORM.

Question: Not related to my issue but just for my knowledge I traced several handshaking between the server and the phones and the first request register always reply with 401. The second with 200. The same is true with Yealink. Is this the NORM?

Thanks

I can’t speak on configuring the Cisco, but as for your question about a 401 and then 200 - yes. The request is initially sent without authentication. The 401 challenges for authentication and the request is resent with it. If it is acceptable a 200 is sent.
