In my personal opinion for AGI and AMI I prefer PHP
I actually dislike the python language, but it has simplified my AGI/AMI programming. pyst2 makes the interactions with Asterisk easy and there are numerous modules address other tasks.
I ended up using python organically, I need a monitoring plugin. Wiith pynagios and pyst2 it was quick and easy to build something functional.
