g’day

i am newie with asterisk and need to get up and running a small office for a mate comprising of around 6 Avaya 4610 Sw Ip supporting POE handsets

appreciate a prompt assistance
a) minimum specs for a server to run asterisk latest version, mate will buy a 2nd hand machine
b) telco will supply a modem with SIP connection, assuming connect the modem via Ethernet to the managed switch. am i correct?
c) recommended POE managed switch 6-8 ports, low range, mate is tight on budget.

A router running OpenWRT could do it. But a gently used floor model PC will probably compile a little faster. Make sure it can run Linux.

Generally, Maybe put a firewall in there.

c) recommended POE managed switch 6-8 ports, low range, mate is tight on budget.

Whatever they can get nearby and return easily if it fails.
