Multiple Service Providers with Asterisk

Customer currently has Level 3 as a SIP provider and uses Asterisk as their pbx. They want to bring us in as a second SIP provider.

They want to bring us in only to handle their outbound calling while leaving Level 3 in place to handle their inbound calling.

Is this possible if they map their pbx correctly and have their calls get mapped to the appropriate ip’s?

Yes it is quite possible. It takes some minor adjustments to their configurations.

There should be a line or three in their extensions.conf that defines where to send external calls. Right now its pointing to SIP{EXTEN}@oldSIPprovider then it needs to be changed to SIP{EXTEN}@newSIPprovider.
