Make Menuselect not working

All,

First off, thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully help me get unstuck.

Some information:

[ul]
I am following the online tutorials from Digium entitled, “Asterisk Essentials”, as I am trying to learn Asterisk.
I have the latest version of CentOS installed.
I have the latest stable released of DAHDI, LibPRI, and Asterisk
[/ul]

I was interested in the 8th video under “Dependencies” which mentioned using:

make menuselect To verify that things were all in order. Now, I was a bit confised as when the video brought this to my attention, it had not explained how to decompress the .tar files into a directory, where it shows the command being run from, but I just assumed that the instructions on how to do that would be coming shortly, which they were.

So, I have decompressed all the files using the tar -zxvf command, and they seem to have done so properly. Making sure I had installed all the dependencies (from the video standpoint), I attempted to use:

make menuselect

And, got the following output, as opposed to the GUI that I was being shown in the tutorial video:

make: -F.: Command not found

I have also tried the following suggestion via the Digium website forums:

From: http://forums.digium.com/viewtopic.php?p=138987

Any help would be appreciated, as I am trying to learn Linux and Asterisk at the same time, and from the ground up. I am going after the certification from Digium, so I am trying to follow along with their instructional videos (which ran our company $300), and am finding that things are not working as they show, and I apparently cannot find the correct information to resolve the issue.

If there is any further information I need to supply, or if anyone needs any further clarification, please do not hesitate to ask, and I will do my best to provide it.

Thank you in advance,

Chris
