Is this possible?

Hello,

Just found asterisk and it might just be what I’m looking for. Could anyone please tell me if what I want is possible and, if yes, if there is a howto around that might get me started?

Our business has 3 ISDN-2 lines, I’d like to connect those lines to three ISDN cards in a dedicated server. This server should start acting as our phone central. What I want to be able to do is this:

  • Use the 6 lines to the max on 4 phone numbers
    Numbers A,B,C are on ISDN-2 line 1
    Numbers D are on ISDN-2 line 2
If everything is busy on ISDN-2 line 1 it should be forwarded to another line.
  • Connect our wireless Siemens Gigasets (we currently have 2 base stations, 1 DECT and 1 ISDN) to server
  • Connect headsets to workstations and be able to forward existing calls to both the Gigaset phones as the workstations
  • Program the server so that particular numbers are forwarded immediately (like our fax)

Thanks!
Ron

Kick back up… anyone who can tell me if it’s possible (please?)

Yes it can do this except

Numbers A,B,C are on ISDN-2 line 1
Numbers D are on ISDN-2 line 2
If everything is busy on ISDN-2 line 1 it should be forwarded to another line.

This would have to be done by your ISDN provider it called rollover or huntgroup. If a call comes in on a line and its busy asterisk has no way to complete the call because the line is busy but if your provider sees the line is busy it can switch it to another line then aterisk can except it.

Thanks for the answer!

BTW. Any advice on what ISDN cards would be a good choice?

I dont use ISDN so I cant really say I would suggest talking with Digium and see what they say
