Is it reasonable go the Asterisk wway instead of Cisco-Quint

I’m offering prepaid and postpaid calling card services with a Quintum Tenor Gateway (has IVR) and radius for authentication.

I will like to know if there is reasonable go the Asterisk way instead of the Cisco or Quintum and why?

Yes it is reasonable. Because it is cheaper and you’ll have more control. Using AGI you can almost make Asterisk do whatever you want, as long as you’ve got access to the programming know-how.

I think you’ll need to do your own needs-specific analysis yourself. If you have a specific question, such as “Will Asterisk do XXX?”, then go ahead and ask (after researching yourself). But you shouldn’t expect to get a far reaching cost-benefit analysis of Asterisk vs Cisco here (as evidenced by nobody answering your same question in your other post in this forum). So much has already been written. Have you checked out the Wiki, voip-info.org/wiki/view/Aste … +Telephony ? These two resources should give you a broad understanding of Asterisk.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, seems that have to start to read a little bit.
BTW what’s AGI?

Mike
