How to dial an extension on an external number via IAX?

I can’t figure this out… If I am placing a call thru IAX or SIP to an external number and want to dial certain extension on it. For example, I call the office phone and want an extension to be requested to reach certain person. How can I achieve that? My command looks like below…

exten => _X.,n,Dial(IAX2/rapidvox/11115000000) but can’t figure out how to tell it if I want extension 123 requested on the dialed number…

Is there a way to do that?

I would like to help but I don’t understand what you are asking.

  1. Does the place you are calling have Asterisk (is asterisk answering the incoming calls?).

no i don’t know what the other end is using, i was wondering if there is a general way of asking for an extension… or dies it really depend on the pbx system answering the call?

The answer can only really come from whoever runs the system the other end. The ‘extension’, as far as IAX2 protocol is concerned, is the ‘11115000000’ part. It’s entirely up to the receiving system, how it uses those digits or whether it can accept any others.
