How to connect more analog phones (FXS)

Hi,

Besides using TDM (FXS) cards, is there another way to to connect
analog phones to asterisk? reason is that using TDM cards become
a bit costly when you have more than 10 analog phones. Furthermore,
the PC will run out of slots fairly quickly. Any idea on alternatives to
connect analog phones to asterisk?

Thanks.

You can use a T1 Card and a channel Bank

I think the best way will be using an ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter)divice like the Grandstream Handy-Tone 286 (grandstream.com/y-286.htm)

This is what we use to connect Wireless phone to Asterisk.

Both answers will work… but depending on your situation, one may be better than the other. The channel bank and T1 card will provide you a central location for all the lines. It would be ideal for connecting an office of analog phones to asterisk. If you only have a couple of phones, the ata’s are definitely the way to go.

Just be sure to choose the correct tool for the job!
