Does anybody knowns if the GXV-3000 IP Video telefono works with asterisk?
I am aware that they used H.264 Coded, that is NOT supported by Asterisk (as far as I known, on Asterisk 1.4 I can ONLY use H.261… but I am do not really understand this very well…
I mean, if I do not need Asterisk to do transcoding (to convert from a video format to another), since BOTH parties, on the other side, use H.264… May I setup Asterisk with canreinvite=yes & invite=yes, so traffic floods directly from one side to another, and video works ?
Any other suggestion for a Video Phone that is totally supported by Asterisk?
YES! I just got the Grandstream GXV-3000 video phone to work with Asterisk. I am using 1.4.5. The trick for me was to put the videosupport=yes in the [general] section of the sip.conf file – not in the device section.
I am using the GXV300 phones and found that in the latest the firmare only supported h.264 codecs. As i am running fedora 1.2, this was not compatible with my GXV300’s. However, i updated them to the latest firmware and it gives a new codec option (h.263) which is compatible with fedora 1.2. So now happy days are here again. Also the GXV3000 can call directly to eachother by ip address, this has the advantage of bypassing the asterisk box altogether and relieving it of any load.
