Error when install Asterisk 1.4

HI all

I tried to install asterisk version 1.4, and when I made ?make? I receive a error message is: The configure script must executed before running ?make? . I tied to search some in the FAQ but nothing refer to this error.

My OS is Red Hat 4 AS.

I need to make some steps before ?make? command.

This seems more like for the users section. Try running ./configure --help in the Asterisk source directory.
